At the One Day Shop, organized by HTNK, I also spotted a new jewelry designer: Nadine Kieft. She designs very cute necklaces, with candyhearts in silver. Also, her jewelry are very French and baroc. I absolutely love it.

She uses a lot of pearls, roses and so called ‘hello boots’.

Take a look at her webshop, NadineKieft.com

This friday I was assisting the Dutch designer Mada van Gaans at a special one day shop filled with designers. I came across this designer called Sacha Lannoye, who’s designs caught my eye.

There were necklaces saying ‘blablabla’ or ‘yadayada’. My favorite thing was the pair of pumps that said ‘max 20 kg’.

Check out her website at SachaLannoya.nl

I have a weakness. I tend to like some people without (really) knowing them. Like the colourful Anna Piaggi or the ‘Black Widow of Fashion’ Diane Pernet. I was lucky enough to have met Diane during London Fashion Week and she was fabulous.

On her weblog ‘ashadedviewonfashion.com’ she has interviewed the Dutch designer Iris van Herpen.

Iris van Herpen talks about her show in London, her collection Radiation, the materials she uses and her plans for the future.

Read the entire interview here.

This week was filled with museum visites. I also visited the Centraal Museum in Utrecht where the exhibition ‘Stof tot nadenken’ by Alexander van Slobbe was.

A complete exhibition about the Dutch designer Alexander van Slobbe and his label Orson + Bodil. You will see the vision of the designer, his minimalistic yet advanced designs and there is even room to make your own Alexander van Slobbe dress.

The exhibition starts with the fabrics that Alexander uses and the way he adapts the fabrics he uses. Halfway the exhibition, the room is filled with hanging mannequins wearing the minimalistic designs. On the floor you can see the patterns that are used for these designs.

The exhibition closes with an area where you can get behind the sewing-machine and make your own Alexander van Slobbe dress. The only thing you have to do is bring your own fabrics.

In the spotlight: The Freedom collection by Dutch designer Bas Kosters. ‘The Freedom collection consists of two parts. The first part tells a story about the freedom, fantasies and joy that people experience during their childhood. The second part illustrates the grown up view on a world where we try to forget about the wars, violence and crisis, by dressing up ourselves in glamorous outfits.’ as it says on the website of Bas. See for yourself!

During Amsterdam International Fashion Week there was a collection that caught my eye especially: Mada van Gaans. Her autumn winter ‘10/’11 collection is called The Serpent Goddess and is inspired by a snake goddess from Crete. Lots of snakeprints, woven in to the fabric and dark colours. One outfit was completely bubblegum pink, which gave the whole collection its freshness.

All in all a very feminine, sophisticated collection by Dutch designer Mada van Gaans.

Usually I’m all but love for every Dutch designer. I thought I liked Claes Iversen a lot, turns out, he is very pro fur. Yesterday I heard the news that he received the Fur Innovation Award. I can’t believe that 1. there is such a thing and 2. that Claes is pro fur. Well Claes, that’s it for me. No more news about Claes on this website.

Personally I’m totally against fur, what an arrogant person you are when you think it’s okay to kill animals for your coat.  A couple of famous dutch people organized a protest during the Fur Innovation Awards. Among them was dj WannaBeaStar. (see picture below). She and some more people like Georgina Verbaan are asking everyone to ‘have a heart’. You can help. Sign the protest on http://www.bontvoordieren.nl/

Dutch fashion designer Claes Iversen designed two dressed for the label Just B. What they look like? Very chic and feminine! And black and little, of course. Just the way I like them. The good news is, they retail from €109,95 to €129,95. For a Claes Iversen!

I’m glad to hear good news about Claes Iversen, since he last most of his collection during a fire in November 2009.

My favorite dress of the two? The black one with sparkling buttons all over it. Want it!

You can get yours at Dressesonly.nl

I have to share this with you. I came across a relatively new Dutch designer and I love her artistic designs.

In the spotlight: Dutch designer Jessica Joyce. Designs inspired by nature and modern art. What do you think of her S/S 2010 collection? (by the way, not only Dutch fashionista’s can get these designs, you can buy your own piece of the JJ label in Amsterdam, Paris and New York!)

Oh and if you are looking for a great internship – on several area’s from media to fashion – I know from inside information that Jessica Joyce is looking! Just leave a response on my blog, and I’ll make shure she’ll contact you!
